Bandit Supreme Robert Piguet

I’ve been saying for a long time that Bandit Robert Piguet doesn’t look like himself. The great leather chypre Germaine Cellier “wrote” with sweeping, large strokes. Greenery, bitterness, a velvety southern night with its intoxicating aroma of flowers, and then hard black leather, and a cigarette without a filter.

No one worked like this either before or after Selye, therefore, when everyone who produced the raw materials and the Piguet perfumes themselves died or retired, the brand fell into decline. In 1985, it was acquired by the Alfin company and finally finished off what was left. The packaging of these years is a waste of the mass market, the fragrances, if you catch them at auctions, are faded or vulgar. In addition, they are poorly stored.

In 1995, the new owner of Fashion Fragrances and Cosmetics, Ltd. I decided to dig up the stewardess (c) and sort out Bandit and Fracas more or less close to the original. The 1999 reformulation was done by Delphine Lebeau of Givaudan. It turned out, rather, less than more, but even this dusty and sweaty Bandit made me tremble.

Then they touched it more than once, but I was relying only on myself. I'm lucky. I started looking for vintage perfumes when it was not yet fashionable, so I have a good and correct edition of Bandit in perfumes, eau de toilette and in colon. But for seven years now you can’t find him anywhere. The bottles have ended up in private collections and are unlikely to surface.

Meanwhile, the brand kept producing more and more new scents; I tried them without much enthusiasm and somehow didn’t even remember them. Until this spring I accidentally came across Bandit Supreme.

At first I couldn’t believe that they were finally able to breathe life into this Golem. Bandit Supreme is still different from vintage, but it's intoxicating, it's dizzying, it fucking keeps you on your toes and doesn't let go. Yes, the similarity is not one hundred percent. Supreme is more dusty, not black, but dark gray. It has brighter greens and doesn't have the scarlet lipstick mark on the cigarette, but it's the best version of Bandit in the last 30 or even 40 years.

I tried it in April and bought it at the first opportunity. I'm enjoying it.
